What first inspired your family to establish your business in Eagle Bay, and how has the land shaped your vision for the business?
We purchased the property with olive trees already planted and established. Having grown up visiting the Margaret River region, we’ve always dreamed of living here, and the land has naturally shaped our vision for the business.
What does a typical day on the farm look like for you?
A typical day begins with letting our free range chickens out of their cages, heading up to the olive shop with the dogs, checking the cows water troughs on the way. Depending on the season we may be watering, fertilizing, picking or pruning our olive trees. As we make all of our products in our kitchen there is also sorting of olives, making tapenade, picking fruit for our jams, bottling oils, and filling our shelves with our gourmet products.
The definition of Mettle is to face adversity with spirit and resilience. Is there someone in your life that has inspired you with their Mettle?
My staff are incredible and have been with us from the start. They are so versatile; pruning and gardening one moment, chasing cows the next, and then serving customers in the shop. They approach everything with a smile and positive attitude, and always manage to accomplish anything we put in front of them.
